How It Works

Your engagement.
Our IT depth.

Most financial audit firms have strong coverage for the accounting side of SOX and other assurance work. The gap is usually specialized IT audit capacity: ITGC testing, application controls, and the technical depth needed to evaluate what happens inside the systems that generate the numbers.

We fill that gap. We work under your methodology, your workpaper standards, and your timeline. You retain full control of the client relationship. We provide the technical execution and documentation that your engagement requires.

As a licensed CPA firm, Sage Audits LLP can be engaged as a component auditor or as a co-sourcing provider, depending on what the engagement structure requires.

01

ITGC Testing and Documentation

We execute testing of IT General Controls across logical access, change management, computer operations, and backup and recovery. Workpapers are built to support principal auditor reliance and align with your firm's documentation standards.

02

Application Control Testing

Testing of automated controls within key financial applications, including ERP systems and reporting platforms. We cover completeness and accuracy controls that directly support financial statement assertions.

03

Component Auditor Engagements

When the engagement structure requires reliance under PCAOB AS 1205 or AICPA standards, Sage Audits LLP can serve as a licensed component auditor. Work is structured, documented, and communicated to support proper attribution and principal auditor oversight.

04

SOC Examination Support

For firms performing SOC 1 or SOC 2 examinations, we provide IT audit depth on scope areas requiring specialized technical expertise. We coordinate directly with your engagement team on scope, timing, and deliverables.

Standards and Independence

Built for professional
audit reliance.

When you are the principal auditor and you need to rely on IT audit work performed by another CPA firm, professional standards govern how that work is referenced, how responsibility is attributed, and what communication is required between firms.

Sage Audits LLP understands those requirements. We structure our work from day one to meet the documentation and communication standards your engagement requires, so there are no surprises at review or sign-off.

Using the Work of Another Auditor

Under PCAOB AS 1205 and AICPA standards, a principal auditor may use the work of another independent CPA firm for a subsidiary, component entity, or specialized scope area. As a licensed CPA firm, Sage Audits LLP structures its IT audit work to support that reliance relationship, with documentation that satisfies the requirements for principal auditor attribution and oversight.

Independence and Licensing

Sage Audits LLP is a licensed Colorado CPA firm (License FRM.5000785) and a member of the AICPA. We carry the professional credentials and independence standards required for attest engagements. Our team holds CPA, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, and CITP designations.

Flexible Entry Points

We can step into an engagement at the planning phase or at testing. Scope, methodology, and deliverable format are coordinated with your team from the start, so our work integrates cleanly with the principal engagement.

Is This You?

Who this
is for.

Regional and Mid-Size CPA Firms

You have strong financial audit relationships but do not maintain a dedicated IT audit practice. We extend your capacity for SOX and SOC engagements without adding permanent headcount.

Firms with Capacity Gaps at Peak Season

SOX season creates bandwidth crunches that hit at the worst time. We scale up alongside your team when the workload peaks and step back when you do not need us.

Firms Expanding into IT Audit Work

You are winning engagements that include IT audit scope but do not yet have the internal expertise to execute it. We serve as a dependable technical resource while you build that practice.

Principal Auditors Needing a Component Auditor

Your engagement includes a subsidiary, component entity, or specialized IT scope area that requires work by another licensed CPA firm. We engage as the component auditor and document to your standards.
